President Jenny welcomed all and called for announcements.

Announcements:

Chris Curtis:  Announced his golden Wedding Anniversary but alas with no Woody Herman accompaniment.

Dick Dawes:  Dick's Son hosting the international wine tasting. The most telling statistic was reportedly 600 gallons of spit accumulated in the spittoons. This was possibly too much information.

Tania Mace:  Got pulled over for speeding and checked for drunkenness. She told them they she was on a good Samaritan visit as part of her Rotary business and - wouldn't you know it? The cops escorted her home.  Tania also suggested more occasions where we could be seen sporting our Rotary badges. [perhaps we could re-visit the once popular community BBQs -starting this coming Sunday!]  Another Tania bombshell ... Some former Rotaractors are looking to join our club! Please make them feel welcome.

Tania also wants to see people bounding with enthusiasm and volunteering for jobs. Chairs, Directors, scribe, speaker organiser, fair committee. Expect to be given the good old "Rotary Tap" on the shoulder.

Fines:

Roger Wescombe and Christabel for not joining Jenny at the table.

Dick Dawes again promoting Rotary with his clever Polio Plus poster.

The rest of us were sometimes illegally fined - me for a wedding anniversary in November. Well, Valentines Day was coming up.

Club Assembly:

BOB Cartwright (Treasurer):

1) Clearance with Working With Children. Deadline 31st March. Fill out the website, send it in on line. Then go to the RTA to provide ID. use exact name.

2). Three people owe dues money.

3). Bob Cartwright: Treasurers report tabled (Could possibly be published in the bulletin??)

Harry Clarsen (Foundation):

The club is Donating $5,000 to Rotary Foundation plus $2,000 to Polio Plus.

Max donations to the Centurion programme are requested.

Planning to apply for a Global Grant for our existing Nepal project for $30,000. We need to provide half of that.

Also for a District Grant up to $5,000 for the NTT project during the next Rotary year.

Contact Harry for info about your previous donations. You can also go on line and look up your own records of donations.

PPs John Donald and Dick Dawes:

Commented that the avenues of service were being given insufficient importance in the seeming current "us against them" Board structure (Directors/Committee Chairs). "It was a far more harmonious club when the Service Chairs were Directors". This comment was met with significant if not general aggreement but also with some demur.  There was a thought that the current format may be mandatory. Someone will consult the Manual of Procedure.

Chris Curtis  (Nusa Tengara Timor Small Grants Project):

Group 4 project to be announced soon. 20 water tanks, 4 toilet blocks, 100 farmers in coco production and 4 vegetable farmers.

We are about $600 short of that. Need it by the end of April.

Banners and brochures around the room for promotional purposes. Bowls day income coming in.

John Palmer (Pride of Workmanship):

Nominations please. 3rd May at this venue. Make it a big night.

James Shevlin (Admin):

Website playing up. All in all, whipping everybody into shape and everybody motivated to do their best.

Ron Tweedie (Youth Activities):

RYLA was on on the 25th January and our nominee will be speaking to us on the 22 March.

Organising the LC public speaking night for 2nd June (Thurs evening) at Council Chambers.

Phil Wade (Bowls Day):

Hazel McNamara has solicited the bulk of the $5,000-plus silent auction items so far, along with Malcolm Carver's painting (President Jenny's contact). Hazel herself is donating a $1500 real estate advert in the North Shore Times, along with Rtn James Shevlin donating his conveyancing- a total value of $3,000 in one item!

Could you all please pass this information down your email iists. We need 100 people there to make it a success.

Former Rtn Tony Farac is assisting PP Bob Cartwright to build the mini putt putt course.

Rtn Karen Paul and David are providing lots of activity in cricket, volleyball, and prizes.

PE Tania is bringing the Youth Tent for a bit of shelter. The youth orchestra is in doubt but Lyndall is still trying to round up volunteers.

Oh yes - there will be bowls demos and events on the day. The BBQ lunch will be sumptuous. We may need volunteers on the day to do the cooking.

Membership:

The subject of converting interest in Rotary to actually getting prospective members to attend. Perhaps a white card with our address and meeting time would be a good tool to have for recruiting.

Attendance:

17 Rotarians. Sergeant raised $103.  Next week's Guest Speaker is Bill McLaughlan from the LC Historical Society.
