The following is the text of an email received today from Professor Martin Krygier, Gordon Samuels Professor of Law and Social Theory at the UNSW:

"Dear supporters of the Project, just a brief note to let you know where things stand at the moment.

Our Myanmar workshops will take place next week: Yangon, Wednesday/Thursday; Nai Pyi Taw, Saturday. We are truly grateful for your support, without which they wouldn’t be. We are also very pleased with how things have developed up to now. We have a very strong group of presenters and a very satisfying array of local participants, in terms of numbers, quality, potential influence, and range of interests and political/legal/civil society/ethnic affiliations.

I’ve attached English versions of our programs, presenter bios and presentation abstracts, and the most recent list of Myanmar participants. The last will be augmented by acceptances of a second round of invitations, which were only due yesterday, but as things stand already, we are very pleased. Indeed we are virtually at capacity (50 for Yangon, 32 for NPT) for both events.

When we return we will send you a report, and probably more photos than you will know what to do with.

Again, many many thanks for your support,

Martin, Catherine and Theunis."
