Louise Williams
Studies in Arabic

Louise is in her 4th year at the University of Sydney studying Arabic and psychology. She has studied in Jordan and travelled through Lebanon, Israel, Qatar, Morocco and Turkey. She joined Rotaract while on exchange in 2016 to the University of Texas at Austin and has become involved with the Rotaract Sydney City since her return.

"Only one year ago I arrived in Amman, Jordan at 5am with limited knowledge of tiny Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and basic colloquial Arabic. Since then, I’ve spent 5 months travelling around Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Israel and the West Bank. Despite studying formal Arabic language and cultural studies at university, the warmth and generosity that I encountered throughout the region surpassed my expectations.

Since my return early in 2017, I have realized the necessity of sharing my passion for Arabic and my personal interactions with the people I met and stayed with during my travels"
